Thoughts & Path

The catalog is a very important physical record for an artist. It establishes a connection between images (paintings, sculptures, photographs, art installations)and a text. An art catalog documents the object images exhibited in a certain place and time. It has an aesthetic purpose and works as a memory for the future. It’s an undeniable proof that a certain exhibition has indeed happened, listing authors, techniques, sizes, dates etc etc. The catalog is also a very important document for the art collector because it legitimates the artwork, whether it will become truly a work of art, only time will tell. The first catalog is a huge personal achievement ! It encapsulates great expectations and emotions. Due to it’s social role, meaning and symbolic value, it’s production must be very well planned and executed, as it testifies an ephemeral exhibition. The same applies to the leaflets, brochures ans posters.
